Rondel with Seated Buddha

Rondel with Seated Buddha

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

These Buddhas with halos and body mandorlas were part of an elaborate halo that embellished a large standing devotional icon. Little remains of the original polychrome, but it is evident that the bodies were painted red and the faces were white.
