Frances Boyce produced a very finely worked selection of decorative darning stitches, made further challenging by the delicate nature of the foundation fabric on which she worked. Apparently, her skill went hand in hand with modesty, as her signature is quite small.

The fifty thousand objects in the Museum's comprehensive and historically important collection of European sculpture and decorative arts reflect the development of a number of art forms in Western European countries from the early fifteenth through the early twentieth century.
