Over a landscape painted in enamel directly onto the glass, the figures of a lady and gentlemen dressed as shepherd and shepherdess have been heat-fused onto the glass bowl, enamel over a foundation of gold wire, to create a relief effect.

The fifty thousand objects in the Museum's comprehensive and historically important collection of European sculpture and decorative arts reflect the development of a number of art forms in Western European countries from the early fifteenth through the early twentieth century.
