The delicate features and animate gestures of the sacred figures them into the living realm. Mary’s ample drapery is characteristic of Venetian baroque art, which lasted well into the eighteenth century.

Ceramics made in Asia for export to European markets and sculpture and decorative arts produced in Latin America during this period are also included among these works.
