Textile Design with a Tartan Pattern and Stylized Daisies

Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made up of a tartan pattern of lines of light tan color over a brown ground decorated with stylized daisies of white color. Every other vertical stripe is rendered with brown color and has offsetting highlights of light tan color with brown stipples.
