Shoes
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
The general style of these laced infant's shoes, with a lower cut than what is now associated with baby booties, reflects a contemporary utilitarian adult style. The simplified cut and construction, however, are typical of infant's footwear. The leather has an appealing cross grain texture which adds interest to the stark form.
