Coat
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
This is a good example of an infant's garment worn for presentation in excellent condition. It is very possible that it was used for ceremonies such as baptism or simply to introduce and show off the child to the public. The embroidery is typical of the geometric trim that prevailed in the 1870s.
