An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
Purchased on the Museum Expedition of 1927, these stockings probably once belonged to Queen Victoria as they are marked with the royal cipher. Made of a very fine quality cotton knit, the workmanship and construction is extremely refined, especially the back seam which is almost invisible.
