Fan
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
All of the applied and fine arts were infused with the same decorative aesthetic in the 18th century. Painters worked in different arenas as well, applying their creative output to canvases, interiors, and small decorative objects such as fan leaves. The work here is so reminiscent of Fragonard's subject matter, composition and coloration, particularly the young man who is looking with anticipation into the scene.
