Vase (one of a pair)

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

These vases are stylistically consistent with Ming imperial ritual vessels and are likely to have been the products of the imperial workshops of the fifteenth century. Originally they would have served as flower vases on a ritual altar, where they would have been placed together with an incense burner and two candlesticks.
