Leys Jar

Leys Jar

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

Auspicious dragons chase flaming pearls around the neck and body of this vessel. The motif and the reign mark on the base of the jar indicate that the work was intended for use in the imperial court. Such small jars with flared necks were used to collect used tea leaves and table scraps.
