Tablet with Design for a Carpet
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
The use of a precious material such as ivory to make a model of a carpet was typical of the famously extravagant Qianlong Emperor. The design of a roundel filled with flowers and surrounded by floral scrolls can also be found in porcelains and other objects from the eighteenth century.
