Bowl with deer
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
The main motif of this bowl, a deer with a single crown-shaped antler, is inspired by the Sogdian art of Central Asia. It is formed in repoussé then gilded—a typical technique found in Sassanian silverwork, as is the chased decoration along the vessel lip.
