Pillar Fragment with Dancing Apsaras
An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
These two dancers, on lotus flowers within an arch, are celestial goddesses (apsaras). Their high tiaras, enigmatic smiles, and outward-turned sampots (wrap-around skirts) are indicative of the Bayon style.
