In this early Bilaspur miniature, a king seated on a terrace and flanked by attendants delivers a rolled up scroll or letter to a messenger. Trees and sky are visible beyond the wall of the terrace, and below an attendant stands guard in an archway of the front wall of the terrace court. To either side of him are water gardens.
