An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art
Carvers throughout the Northwest Coast made elaborate utensils for ceremonial feasts. This Chinook ladle, with an oval bowl, finely carved rim, and flat handle embellished with two guardian birds, is typical of the Lower Columbia River peoples.
