Portrait of a Lady

Portrait of a Lady

Henry Inman

An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

Inman and Cummings made miniatures together for a short time (1825–27). The works on which they collaborated are very fine and exceedingly rare, and rank among the most stunning American miniatures produced in the nineteenth century. The present work features Inman's elaborate and highly finished technique and Cummings's minute detailing.
