An item at Metropolitan Museum of Art

This quilt has a central flowering tree of appliquéd chintz, surrounded by appliquéd blue and pink calico vines, swags, and sawtooth and scalloped borders. The outermost border is shell quilted, while the inner area is quilted with roses, leaves, vines, and grapes. There are some modern replacements to the chintz areas. A cotton fringe is attached on three sides. The back is of plain white woven cotton.
